We as a staff team, are attempting to try and rejuvinate the forum, 

and we want your input into the matter!

 

Besides Contests, giveaways, ECT...

What would be some ideas you all have to make the forums active?

 

Any input you give is greatly appreciated.

- Giving benefits to creators of either guides or content creators is a good way to pump in content and activity to the forums. Most people who have created videos will post it on the forums and if we support that in some way it could allow people to go to a thread link to see a persons new upload. Some people need an incentive to start something

- I think I suggested this somewhere before but it would be cool to be able to make a community voted update, a decent amount of people upload their suggestions that can be major but also minor. You could use these goals depending on the scale for a monthly competition for the group to vote for. The staff see a handful that they think is pretty cool and they group them up and create a poll and what ever wins will be an update that would happen that month. This gives the community a connection to the updates a little bit more than what is happening atm

To be perfectly honest, I think forums as a whole are just outdated. 

Very few people are going to participate on the forums unless it will directly benefit them (staff applications, giveaways, etc.) The forums aren't really good for much more than a very niche part of communication, you're not going to go to the forums because you want to have a conversation with a friend on the server, discord and the server itself are both much better for that.

Outside of the server just becoming more active the only way to encourage activity on the forums is to provide some kind of incentive for that activity, but the activity that brings is rarely beneficial.

 

Maybe bring some fun or personal discussions to the forums? Sports/post your desktop/post a picture of yourself topics are usually pretty popular on forums.

Mostly going off what Steven said. 

 

These forums aren't really anything that you'd want to come to. The biggest reason anyone comes to it at all are to check guides, pm John for help, post a staff app, or to check out the newest updates. Outside of that there isn't really much to see. 

You could blame the players for not posting, but there is no incentive to post. Besides the replies from John if you pm him for help, you don't get feedback on suggestions from Jamian or Darklight on why it's a good idea or not. Other players might give feedback, but it usually doesn't matter if you never know if Jamian just looked at it and went on his way. 

Also there is really nothing to post about besides general discussions like desktop pics, sports, or anything because the community atm is really small so they talk about it in-game. Basically everything you need to know about the game is already out there on either the Wiki or on one of our already made guides. Also guides don't really feel worthwhile to make because that "Make a guide and get rewarded!" incentive doesn't happen and hasn't happened in the last 8+ months if at all. The only reason you'd want to make it is to make people stop asking about something and you can tell them a topic number, or to actually explain the process further.

Other server forums have a bigger playerbase to go off of which helps keep them more active, but PKing also helps for some banter or anything that happens in the wild. Makes a competition between the best and it's entertaining to watch from the outside if you don't participate.  Also the content is more spread out for those servers instead of everyone having to do the same thing so there's no diversity in gameplay.

 

There's not really a lot of ways to fix this besides: more activity from top trio (Jamian, John, Darklight (Dark is more of just a developer so not him so much)) and show , actually pay out for guides or maybe even anything that starts a discussion and isn't spam, or more players in general. wildy too but cant rush everything.
